ORGANISERS of the Petersfield Awards are urging people to get their nominations in quickly as the deadline is almost here.
Anyone keen to put forward a nomination in any of the 15 categories in the annual event, organised by Hometown Festivals, only has until Saturday, to submit their suggestions.
Steve Jacobs, of Hometown Festivals, said: “We are bringing back the event which celebrates everything awesome in Petersfield, so who would you like to nominate?”
The finale of the event will be an Oscars-style gala evening open to anyone at Churcher’s College in Petersfield with a bar, food, entertainment and a professional compere.
During the evening, the winners and runners-up will be revealed, and receive their awards.
The categories include Best Business Award, Retailer of the Year, Awesome Customer Service, Hair Salon of the Year, Best Eating Establishment, Best Cafe, or Coffee House, and Best Drinking Establishment.
There are also nominations needed for Best Sporting Achievement – individual or team, Arts and Entertainment Award, Contribution to the Community – group, Best Volunteer or Contribution to the Community – individual – and Event of the Year.
Last year thatis award went to the PACT Christmas Day lunch for elderly, lonely and homeless people.
Finally the organisers are inviting people to name their Teacher of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year, and Personality of the Year, won in 2017 by Petersfield resident Steve Stidolphi.
Steve added: “We want to know what makes them stand out from the others, what do they bring to the community.
“Tell us what their awesome achievements are, or what obstacles they have overcome.”
