AS WORK clearing up a “huge” amount of fly tipped waste in a layby near Chawton on the A32 gets underway, East Hampshire District Council is appealing for information about the incident.
A council spokesman said: “A huge amount of waste was fly-tipped dumped in a layby on the A32 West Meon to Alton road near the A31 junction, sometime on Tuesday, April 10.
"Due to the vast amount of waste which has been dumped, it is possible someone might have witnessed this taking place or have some idea where it has come from.
"We take fly-tipping very seriously and if we can trace the perpetrators we will prosecute.”
It is hoped the layby will cleared of the waste by Monday (April 16).
