Nappies, tents, sleeping bags, medical supplies – including syringes and cannulas – and many other essential items for Ukrainian refugees, donated by children at Herne Junior School, have left for the Ukraine.

The school is also flying the Ukrainian flag in support of the war-torn country.

Headteacher Tony Markham said: “It was our absolute privilege to deliver goods in a minibus crammed full of donations for the millions of refugees who fled their homes for safety in Europe.

“It made me so proud to be part of our community and to do something very practical to reach out to these families.”
