EVEN though winter so far has been unseasonally mild, Hampshire County Council is offering advice in expectation of a cold spell, likely to arrive in January.

Councillor Patricia Stallard said: “We should be prepared for cold weather.

“A flu vaccination has to be a priority, and there are simple things that will help people stay healthy over Christmas and New Year.”

These include keeping heating close to 18 degrees celsius, and eating well, as food raises body heat. Seeking advice on colds, coughs, aches and pains from a local pharmacist in Petersfield, Horndean, Clanfield, and Bordon, before they get too serious, and looking out for elderly friends, relatives and neighbours, is also suggested.
