A NEW political dimension has entered East Hampshire District Council with Guy Stacpoole swapping to the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
He has become the party's first representative on any administrative body in East Hampshire.
Cllr Stacpoole, who has represented Petersfield's St Mary's ward on the district council for the past 12 years, has been a Conservative for all his adult life.
He said: "Only UKIP offers the suitable alternative sought by those very many of us who are frustrated by a leadership we can no longer trust....
