BUSINESSES are being encouraged to team up with charities as part of a new scheme launched by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC).

Called Business Buddies, the scheme partners firms which want to make a difference in their own community with organisations providing vital services in the area.

Petersfield-based business reviews brand Feefo is the first to sign up.

The tech firm has committed to enabling each of its 125 members to take two paid days for volunteer work, adding up to 250 man-hours available to local charities.

“The wellbeing of East Hampshire residents is what we, as a council, are all about,” said EHDC leader Richard Millard.

“If we could get businesses and charities working together then we could really start to see the benefits on the ground.

"Businesses can offer whatever skills they have – I hope Feefo is the first of many businesses to get on board with this and help us make a real difference.”

Feefo’s Chief Strategy Officer Matt Eames said his firm is delighted and proud to be onboard.

He added: “Our fantastic staff are already sharing ideas and volunteering to take part, so they can give back to the community and causes that matter to them.”
