RAIL-USERS in East Hampshire can have a say on services – in a bid to tackle overcrowding and boost punctuality – during a Government consultation.
Responses from those using services across the south east will help shape the new South Western franchise due to start in 2017 which will provide journeys between London and the south-east.
The 12-week consultation period has now started, with the deadline for submissions February 9, 2016. It asks for passenger views on a range of issues, including journey times and punctuality, facilities on trains and platforms, free WiFi, compensation arrangements and the take-up of smart ticketing.
Expected improvements to be made when the current South West Trains contract comes to an end, include the lengthening of platforms one to four at Waterloo and a new fleet of 30 five-car trains to tackle overcrowding.
