CHURCHER’S College Junior School has held its premiere piano and percussion gala.
Having previously been an opportunity for pianists to perform, drummers were also invited to share their prowess as a varied programme was put together.
Moritz Flohr opened with performances of From the Top and Drum Time, both written by drum teacher Stuart Croucher. Several piano solos followed from pupils just starting out to more experienced Year 6 players and the audience was treated to many varied music styles.
Churcher’s College Junior School deputy headteacher Philipa Yugin-Power said: “Well done to Thomas Gore Brown, Darcia Scott, Oliver Hewett, Isabelle Davis, Eddie Lewis and Jasper Shine for their performance of Agent 003; Rory Condor, Oliver Foulkes, Jacob Smith, Lily Brady, Zara Hassanali and Alfie Greggs in their performance of In a Haunted Mansion and Emma Parncutt, Lara Foulkes, Monica Watkins, Harry Cooper and Lily West in the final piece of the evening, Victory Parade. All ensemble items were carefully put together by the expert guidance of Jane Happel and Giles Nash. With the audience arranged in a circle around the pianos and drum kit, it really was a case of the children taking centre stage.”
