CHURCHER’S College celebrated another year of impressive GCSE results.
Ninety per cent of all exams taken achieved the equivalent of B grade or above, and 15 per cent of the year group achieved straight A* and A grades in all subjects taken.
More than half of all the candidates were given the A* grade in maths, art, French, Latin, religion and philosophy, while in history, chemistry and physics 80 per cent of students were awarded A* or A grades.
With record numbers applying to the sixth form at Churcher’s College, there will be a significant number joining the in-house ‘crew’ as they move on into the sixth form, rightly wearing huge beaming smiles of satisfaction on their faces of a job very well done.
Churcher’s College headmaster Simon Williams said: “With so many of our students going on to our sixth form, these results bode very well.”
A budding musician was among the Churcher’s College students celebrating after receiving their GCSE results last Thursday.
Katie Evans, from Farnham, will study music, biology, drama and English literature at All Hallows in Farnham after getting the results she wanted.
During her time at Churcher’s, Katie made full use of the music facilities, and released an Extended Play track (EP) this year.
She said: “I would like to pursue music as a career.
“The music facilities here are really good and my GCSE results are better than I thought they would be.”
Jacob Haldenby, from Petersfield, was also celebrating after getting a string of A*s within his results.
He will stay at Churcher’s College sixth form, where he will study Latin, English literature, psychology and ancient history.
Jacob said:?“The results are better than I expected and I’m pretty happy.
“I’m looking forward to the sixth form.”
A forgotten password didn’t put a dampener on Emily Langrish’s results.
She said: “I forgot my password to check the results online, but when I opened the results they were way better than I expected.
“I was really shocked, but in a good way.”
Emily will study modern history, English literature and art at Churcher’s College sixth form.
A keen rugby player is looking forward to the next challenge after getting his GCSE results. Tom Bloomer will stay at Churcher’s College sixth form, where he will study psychology, history and physical education.
Tom plays flanker, and plays for Winchester Rugby Football Club and Churcher’s, as well as being the Hampshire under-16s captain. Tom has already played rugby at Allianz Park, the home of Saracens.
