CHURCHER’S College Junior School (CCJS) was turned into a gourmet restaurant as pupils participated in the school’s Master Chef Competition.

Teams of Year 6 pupils had a budget of £5 to spend to create a Master Chef meal.

Their challenge included researching recipes, buying ingredients and working as a team to cook and present their plates of food.

The children considered hygiene and safety as they worked and created some delightful and delicious dishes.

Potatoes were layered with creamy cheese, salmon was marinated and pork and mushroom stroganoff was tasted by the judges.

The winning team were The Five Chocolatiers, who produced three chocolate puddings beautifully displayed on a black slate.

Class teacher Sarah Roberts said: “The Master Chef Competition was the finale to a fabulous Citizenship Week here at Churcher’s College Junior School.

“The whole week has been based around the idea of being a good citizen.

“The children have learnt about politics and government, our monarchy and history, cooking and budgeting, first aid skills and most importantly how to work well in a team.”
