MORE than 400 current and former pupils of Ditcham Park school came together to celebrate the school’s 40th anniversary.
It opened in 1976 with just 97 pupils and several of the first youngsters to attend were among the throng, enjoying the fun, and nostalgia of school days gone by. Also there were all four of the headteachers who have worked there since opening and who gave speeches revisiting the school’s past, and commemorating its history.
On the day, guests were entertained by musical performances from past and present pupils, and a themed cake made a student’s parent was cut.
The celebrations are set to continue, and a time capsule will be put together. It will be opened in another 40 years’ time, 2056, to celebrate the school’s 80th anniversary.
