CHURCHER’S College Junior School blew their own trumpets, flutes and more at their annual wind concert evening to an audience of parents, staff and children.

The school has a thriving group of wind players, with more than 50 members who all took part in a performance, including solos, duets, trios and ensemble items.

The Ballistic Brass ensemble gave a reggae-infused version of The Beatles’ hit Let it Be, which was swiftly followed by many solo items on clarinet, alto saxophone, descant recorder, flute, trumpet, trombone, and French horn player Joshua Wild.

The senior school brass quintet performed Leslie Pearson’s Hiplips II, and The Rocking Recorders performed Papageno’s aria from The Magic Flute.

Some of the more experienced players formed their own trios, with an arrangement of Summer is A-Coming In by clarinettists Holly Pyke, Emily Martin and Darcia Scott, as well as a traditional Hungarian tune Come and Sing, played by flautists Sidonie Sykes, Florence Cornelius and Lara Virtue.

Trombonist Peter Elsom performed The Acrobat, and the evening came to a close with the Wacky Winds performance of Yellow Submarine.
