SUMMER was in full bloom at Empshott and Hawkley Horticultural Society’s Summer Show.
Twenty-seven members of the society contributed to the show, which had a record number of individual entries.
Show secretary Stella Savage said: “Despite the extremely wet June, we had an excellent show with a record number of individual entries.
“Due to the weather and the slug problem some vegetable classes were missing but this was made up with a large number of beautiful flower entries which the judge was very complimentary about.”
Rosemary Lanning won the Olive Baring Cup for cookery and the Wright Cup for flower arrangement, Robin Crittenden won the RHS Banksian Medal, Leo Brown won the Lady Royden Challenge Cup for fruit and vegetables, and Sue Rigby won the Sir Ralph Edwards Challenge Cup for flowers.
Suzy Dixon won the Cheesecombe Award for novice arrangement, Stella Savage won the Robert Howe Cup for the best in show, and Tim Mullins won the Photography Cup.
