THE ANNUAL Buriton Heritage Bank exhibition is set to go ahead on Saturday, September 25.

After being cancelled last year, it is hoped this year’s free event in the village hall from 1pm to 4pm will attract more visitors with old photos and memories of Buriton.

Heritage Bank spokesman Doug Jones said: “There will be lots of displays, photographs and information about parish life, and copies of Heritage Bank books for sale, so come and see how much local history has been brought together.”

Displays will feature hop growing and picking in the village, Buriton and Butser chalk and lime quarries, the changing faces of the village school and farming locally, and leisure activities, featuring village football and cricket teams, pheasant and rabbit shoots, early entertainments, and social clubs.

Visitors are encouraged to bring any old photos, newspaper articles or other information about Buriton, Weston, Nursted or Ditcham.
