YOUNG people found out how apprenticeships could give them a head start in the world of work at Penns Place in Petersfield.

School leavers and job seekers gathered at East Hampshire District Council’s apprenticeship event to investigate the schemes on offer.

There was a talk from local apprenticeship ambassador Martyn Kiddey who explained that both the employee and employers benefitted greatly.

He said: “Apprenticeships are a great alternative to university or college courses and allow you to get your foot in the door at an organisation while also earning a salary.”

The district council held the event as part of its own successful scheme which has seen more than 23 workers take up apprenticeships with firms in the area over the past two years. Find out more at www.apprenticeship.org.uk or www.easthants.gov.uk
