Clanfield Parish Council is launching the Clanfield Awards to recognise the talent and hard work of village residents.

Councillor Laurent Coffre said: “We are hoping this will become an annual event.

“I look forward to thanking our local community at a special event at the end of the year for the great work it does, day in, day out.”

There are three awards, the first for exceptional service to the community, this includes service rendered by an individual, or group of individuals, that has enhanced the life of Clanfield and Chalton residents over the past year.

A second award will recognise the achievements of an individual, or group of individuals, such as a team, or band, under the age 25, in any field, including sport, education and arts.

The third award will go to the Charity of the Year for providing support in Clanfield and Chalton.

Any resident may nominate any other person or group of people living in Clanfield, although nominated charities need not be based in the parish, as long as it benefits residents of the parish.

Nominations must be with the council by October 30, and nomination forms and further information can be obtained from the council website www.clanfieldpc.org.uk or by contacting council clerk Katie Knowles on 023 9257 1077.
