An inspirational south of Butser teen who finished her GCSE exams just three days before her father died from a terminal illness has done her family and school proud.
Andrew Stevens was probably looking down at Immy smiling when the 16-year-old from Horndean opened her GCSE results at The Petersfield School last Thursday.
They were among the school’s best with Immy collecting one grade 9, five 8s and two 7s in a triumph over tragedy.
Her father was diagnosed with MND shortly after Immy began her TPS tenure, with Andrew’s last Facebook post coming after his daughter’s end-of-year report and predicted grades.
“We were extremely worried he wouldn’t see her make it through the exams, said Immy’s mother, Hannah Stevens.
“They’re amazing results considering all she had gone through but it’s bittersweet that he’s not here to see it.”
Immy, who is off to Chichester College to study a BTEC in Business, and her mum will always be grateful for the “unwavering support” they’ve received from TPS.
She said: “I have greatly appreciated all the help and support of everyone at TPS.
“It’s been two months to the day since he passed – I think he would be pretty proud of me.”
