HOLLYCOMBE Working Steam Museum reopened for the new season over Easter weekend.
And while the sun shone on Good Friday, the weather wasn’t so kind for the rest of the holiday weekend.
Nigel Philpott, who is part of the marketing team at Hollycombe Working Steam Museum, said: “The opening weekend went well. We were very busy on Good Friday, although the rest of the weekend wasn’t as busy.
“The opening weekend always has a special feeling, and it was special to see the steam again. We were very pleased with how it went.”
There was an Easter theme to the weekend, with an Easter Bunny event on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, and an Easter trail throughout the weekend.
Nigel said: “The children had to follow the Easter trail to find the answers, and when they finished they went to the reception and got a prize, and people also went on woodland walks.”
With Easter being earlier this year, the team of restorers had less time to get the rides ready than usual, but thanks to their hard work most of the rides were open.
Nigel added: “Our big three rides, The Steam Yacht, The Gallopers and The Razzle Dazzle were all open.
“Storm Katie did a little bit of superficial damage to the shutters of The Razzle Dazzle on Sunday night, but that ride was still able to open on Monday as normal.”
Hollycombe Working Steam Museum is open on Sundays and bank holidays until mid-October, and the next main event will be the Magic Lantern Shows in the Bioscope on Sunday, May 1, and Monday, May 2.
Admission is £16 for adults, £14 for seniors and £12 for children aged from three to 15 years old. Tickets bought at normal entry prices allow unlimited free return entries to Hollycombe for one year.
