PETERSFIELD Development Committee is to write to the South Downs National Park Authority to clarify funding for a community project worker for Petersfield.

The possibility of creating a Business Improvement District (BID) is also to be investigate so make the £21,000-a-year post sustainable.

At the moment funds to pay for the role have only been identified for two to three years, the committee heard at its May meeting.

Petersfield Town Council has offered £7,000 a-year, East Hampshire District Council £7,000 for two to three years, and £7,000 a-year from developers’ payments.

The committee is now to ask the national park to confirm the developers’ money can be used for this purpose.

It is also going to talk to other councils about the value of creating a BID through which funds for a community project worker would be available.
