HERNE Junior School pupil from Petersfield, renowned chatterbox Maise Bishop, aged eight, has raised £400 for NHS staff, volunteers and patients impacted by the coronavirus crisis by keeping quiet for seven hours.

Her mum Steph said: “Maisie is a big chatterbox and even talks in her sleep, and I was super excited she raised money for such a worthy cause – and by the thought of hours of peace and quiet.

“She was inspired by Captain Tom Moore’s sponsored walk, and her target was £40 for three hours of silence.

“When she hit £125 she agreed to increase her silence by an hour for every additional £50 raised, and has currently raised an incredible £400.”
