DESCRIBED by The Guardian newspaper as Downton Abbey with gardening tips, Old Herbaceous is a breath of fresh air arriving at Havant’s Spring Arts Centre.
Directed by Simon Downing and starring Giles Sheton, this charming one-man play tells the humorous love story of head gardener Herbert Pinnegar, a single-minded yet gentle man with a passion for plants.
An acute and sometimes hilarious observation of relationships between the classes in a simpler age, Old Herbaceous is sprinkled with witticisms and epithets.
The performance invites the audience to feel included in a private chat from a bygone, comforting age – and promises to leave them with a feeling that, perhaps, all’s right with the world.
Tickets for the performance tonight (Saturday) at 7.30pm are £12.50, with concessions at £11.50. Visit the website at: www.thespring.co.uk or call 023 9247 2700.
Just a few tickets remain for the gig by comedian Lucy Porter at The Spring which was postponed from March 2 and has been rescheduled to March 31.
Tickets bought for the earlier date of the stand-up’s Choose Your Battles tour stop off in the town are still valid for the new performance.
