A seven-year-old Petersfield girl has been praised after she raised £100 selling her toys during the pandemic to help children suffering during the lockdowns.

Alice Wighton of Willis Terrace sold her toys at a garden gate sale for the NSPCC.

Mother Kate said: "She was upset to hear that some children might be having a hard time in the pandemic, and with the help of amazing friends, family, neighbours and incredibly generous passers-by, she managed to raise over £100."

Her story was spotted in the Post by the charity, which swiftly contacted Alice to thank her and send her a special certificate.

Society spokesman Kelly Evans said: "We were really touched by her story."
