MANFRED Mann’s frontman comes to Grayshott Folk Club to tell the tale of his fascinating musical journey through words and song.

Mike d’Abo and Friends are performing at the club at Grayshott Village Hall on Friday, June 16, at 7.30pm.

The vocalist and keyboard player sang on Manfred Mann’s songs Ragamuffin Man, Ha-Ha Said the Clown, My Name is Jack, and the smash hit Mighty Quinn.

He also wrote Handbags and Gladrags, which was originally taken on by Chris Farlowe, but has more famously been covered by Rod Stewart and The Stereophonics.

It is little known that Mike wrote Build Me Up Buttercup too, and many catchy and familiar jingles for television commercials.

He will be joined by Steve Degutis on guitar and vocals, and Dik Cadbury on bass guitar and vocals.

Support at the gig will be from Days Are Done, a high energy pop duo from Kingston, Surrey, whose reputation for uplifting and fun performances is growing.

Tickets are £16 for adults and £8 for under-16s.

To book and for more information call club organiser Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096.
