THE NEW caravan campsite at Harris Caravans in Liss is almost complete, and a special Hallowe’en event will be held to celebrate.Work has been done on a communal area, cafe and shop and three new holiday buildings, to add to 12 caravan pitches, three holiday buildings and the shower and toilet block at the site.Liss businessman Terry Harris, who runs Harris Caravans in Farnham Road with his wife Shannette, is pleased with how the site is coming along and is looking forward to the Hallowe’en event.“We’re doing an open day so we can show people around the park,” said Terry. “We’re going to show people the community room, the campsite and the progression of the caravan site.“We’ve got a Hallowe’en menu in the cafe, apple bobbing, pumpkin carving and a raffle, and there will be a prize for the best dressed adult and a prize for the best dressed child.”
Terry has already had lots of visitors to his campsite.
He said: “We’ve had quite a few people coming here, and we’ve had good feedback.
“We’re close to the A3, but people say they can’t hear it. They say it’s nice and quiet and peaceful, and they can hear the birds. They also like all the flower gardens as well.
“We’ve got a 12-month licence so we’re open all year round, and we’re members of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association.”
Terry hopes to utilise his position in the South Downs National Park and attract tourists to the area.
“Because we’re in the national park there’s quite a lot to do in this area,” said Terry.
“You’ve got all the national park walks, the museums and the country park.
“We’re lucky to be in the national park and the national park is lucky to have us, so I think we complement each other quite well.”
The free Hallowe’en open event will start at 6.30pm on Saturday, October 22.
