THE TURNOUT of registered voters across East Hampshire in the Hampshire County Council election was 37 per cent.

Counting the votes in Petersfield Festival Hall began at 12.30am, with the results expected between 2am and 3am.

Conservative candidate for the Petersfield Butser ward Rob Mocatta of East Meon said: “It’s an encouraging turnout, and there was a high postal vote I understand.”

Figures released by EHDC show the turnout of registered voters in Alton Rural ward was 41 percent, in Alton Town 37%, Catherington 35%, Liphook Headley and Grayshott 37%, Petersfield Butser 38%, Petersfield Hangers 41%, and in Whitehill, Bordon and Lindford 29%.
