A MEMORY Café in Petersfield for those living with dementia celebrated its first birthday day with cake and songs.
The monthly get together in the Winton House Pop-in Café on the High Street, provides a relaxing venue for those affected by dementia.
Winton House manager Sheridan Rocher said: “It is a warm and friendly support group for those with dementia, their carers and families.
“A beautiful cake and cup cakes had been baked for the occasion by Sarah Calwell, and the deputy mayor Hilary Ayer helped us celebrate.
“Guitarist Richard Barnes played, and we welcomed regulars and new visitors, who joined in the singing.”
Trained volunteers help run the Memory Café, and as well as activities, the monthly events have a theme, to help spark the memories of the guests affected by dementia.
Sheridan added: “Activities and refreshments are provided, and volunteers ensure that everyone feels looked after and can relax and have an enjoyable and sociable few hours.”
The next Memory Café is on Wednesday, August 16, from 2pm.
