Two-time Olympic photographer, Jon Nicholson, has lent his support to The Great Sussex Way’s ‘Winning Weekend’ competition, sharing his ideal weekend on V2 Radio.

Jon went on air to describe why the South Downs is the perfect get away for any photographer.

In the interview he described the area as “absolutely sunning – at any time of day, any sort of weather, any direction you look.”

Talking about some of his top spots, he described several that overlook the historic City of Chichester and the expansive coastline beyond, Jon said it’s like “you can just roll down the hill and be at the beach.

In the age of Instagram, one of the questions being asked by the competition is your favourite selfie spot – so of course, the question was put to the photographer, who said his would be Harting Down, a hilltop near Petersfield that offers a huge range of breath-taking backdrops in every direction.

The Winning Weekend competition is asking businesses and individuals to share their winning weekend, with a host of incredible prizes, including a scenic aeroplane coastal tour with bubbly courtesy of V2 Radio, an overnight stay at Ashling Park Estate winery with an afternoons free e-bike hire from Southern eBike Rentals. And for the businesses taking part, they could win a 4 week-long V2 Radio advertisement slot.

All winners will be decided by an expert panel of judges from Visit England, The University of Chichester and the National Tourism Academy. Every winner will also enjoy a hamper filled with goodies from Petworth’s The Hungry Guest.
