A FINANCE company has been cleaning up in Kingsley – much to the delight of users of the village’s community centre.

Staff from financial planning firm Taylor Made volunteered some of their time to help decorate communal areas and paint outdoor furniture at the Forge Road premises.

The company organised the series of voluntary work with Community First.

A spokeswoman for the centre said: “They did splendid work and everybody enjoyed their company. Volunteering is essential to our organisation, especially keeping the building in good shape.”

Pamela Murphy, of Taylor Made, added: “Volunteering our time ensures the community and ourselves come together to create a positive environment.”*Kingsley Centre’s Supported Volunteering Project has picked up the Community Champion award at the 2017 Post Office Retail Sales Awards.The ceremony, celebrating the hard work, community spirit and excellent levels of service provided by teams and individuals working in Post Offices around the country was held in London on Saturday June 10.Kingsley Centre provides extra support and training to disabled people so they can access volunteering opportunities. As well as practical support, they are offered emotional and peer support. A number of opportunities are available for supported volunteers at the Kingsley Centre. As well as the Post Office, volunteers can work in the village shop, on reception, in the café, and with housekeeping, gardening and maintenance.With the help of funding from the Lloyds Foundation, Kingsley Centre is looking to work with businesses to expand the volunteering placements it can offer.Kingsley Centre is available to provide support to businesses which would like to offer a volunteering placement.
