LISS eight-year-old Henry Mills Granger has completed his marathon in stages to raise £1,234 for Petersfield Hospital.

He was inspired by Captain Tom Moore’s sponsored walk for the NHS.

His mum Victoria said: “Henry finished his marathon on Sunday.

“He set out to complete his challenge over three weeks, but managed it in an amazing 11 days.

“He ran 27.23 miles and has raised £1,234 for Friends of Petersfield Hospital.

“He returned after his final two miles to rapturous applause from our wonderful neighbours – social distancing adhered to, of course.

“We are overwhelmed by how generous friends, family and strangers have been.”

Henry, who plays football for Liss Raptors and rugby at Petersfield Rugby Club, raised the money for Friends of Petersfield Hospital because his grandparents are volunteers for the charity.

Victoria added: “Our family has used the hospital a number of times, and we can’t thank all the staff enough for what they have done, and are doing now.”
