BEST-selling musician Noel Gallagher is enduring lockdown along with the rest of us – and getting his exercise cycling around the West Meon Lanes -- and supplies from the village shop.

Now with his own band, High Flying Birds, it is no secret the guitarist enjoys leaving the family home between East and West Meon and exploring the countryside and lanes on his bike.

The former Oasis front-man and wife Sara Macdonald bought the rural retreat about six-miles from Petersfield last year amid reports they wanted to send their young sons to a private school close by.

Talking on the Funny How? podcast recently he said he was loving life away from “mad-house” London.

He said: “I ride my bike where I live and you get the odd car on the road, but I don’t stop to talk to anybody.

“We’re out of London, so well away from the madhouse. We’re all right – I can easily shut the door and stay in.

“I live 75 miles outside of London now, so it’s different out here.

“If you don’t leave the house you’ll be okay – I don’t see anybody anyway.

“But I’ve been panic-buying booze.

“Now the pubs are shut the only thing to do now is to drink your way through it.”

And when asked about a recent trip to a supermarket, he replied: “I was in the supermarket to see the bare shelves, and because I thought, ‘I’ll get a load of booze.’

“And all that was there was – gluten-free Peroni. All the beers were gone.”
