LISS Horticultural Society’s Spring Flower Show was extremely well attended again.
The show was held at the Triangle on Tuesday, April 5.
There were slightly fewer daffodil exhibits compared with last year, due to early flowering of some daffodils.
However, because of the weather there were some lovely early tulips on display.
The variety and quality of all the 156 exhibits of flowers and plants was excellent. The judge, Mark Ward, said the show was getting better and better each year. There was plenty of help on hand and the society were very pleased to see new members exhibiting for the first time.
The main prize winner was Jenny Hall, who won the Spring Cup for the most points overall, the prize for the most points in the daffodil section and the Best Daffodils in Show class.
The Summer Show will take place on Sunday, August 7. Schedules are now available from the show secretary, Jim Stratton, or the general secretary, Sue Jordan.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 3, at 7.30pm in the Triangle, when Neil Lucas from Knoll Gardens in Wimborne will talk about grasses and their place in all our gardens.
