A campaign that’s streets ahead is being launched to keep a South of Butser community looking its best.
A community litter pick on Sunday, May 31, will kick-start the Clean Up Clanfield campaign with the Clanfield Centre and parish council teaming up in a joint initiative.
It’s more than just a litter pick as locals will also be encouraged to “adopt a spot” in a bid to keep the village looking its very best.
“The campaign is about the community coming together to take pride in Clanfield and look after the place they call home,” said the organisers.
People who would like to join the community litter pick should meet at the Clanfield at 9.45am for a 10am start.
Litter picking equipment will be provided while centre’s Brewsters Café will serve complimentary refreshments.
Participants will get the chance to learn more about the “Adopt a Spot” initiative that gives residents the chance to take care of a small part of the village.
That could be a pathway, green space or roadside stretch, but adoptees will be given a helping hand.
“Participants will be loaned equipment from the Clanfield Centre to help keep their chosen spot clean and cared for all year round,” said centre manager, Natasha Glover.
“This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, meet your neighbours, and make a visible difference together – one bag of litter at a time! We’d love to see as many people as possible join us.”
The campaign is part of a wider raft of improvements at the Clanfield Centre, run by charity Community First, with a grant recently being secured for solar panels and other green upgrades.
No booking is necessary to join Clean Up Clanfield, just turn up on the morning. For more details call 023 9421 1650 or email [email protected]
