DOG walkers are being reminded to keep their pets on a lead when outwalking near livestock, especially sheep, as being chased by dogs could cause pregnant ewes to miscarry their lambs.

The National Farmers Union is warning owners that farmers are allowed to shoot dogs worrying livestock and is also asking those who see dogs running loose near livestock to call the police, using the 101 phone number.
