LISS Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show was very well supported again with some good quality exhibits.
The numbers were down compared to last year, especially in the dahlias which were affected by rain three days earlier, despite this some members managed to produce some amazing dahlia blooms.
There was a vibrant show of autumn flowers and shrubs and the fruit and vegetables were of good quality and to a very high standard.
While the exhibits were being judged a gardeners’ question time took place.
The audience was enlightened and entertained by the very experienced and knowledgeable panel of Peter Catt, Peter Barwick and the head gardener at Hinton Ampner, John Wood, chaired by Ken Payne. Refreshments were served and money raised will be donated to Liss Unites People in?Need (LUPIN).
Secretary Sue Jordan said: “A very big thank you to all who entered and to those who came along to support the show to keep this village tradition alive.”
The next meeting will be on October 4, at 7.30pm.
