LISS Horticultural Society’s 75th annual general meeting and cheese and wine party were held on January 12, and more than 70 members attended.

The chairman, Mike Boocock, reported yet another very successful year with three shows, a well-supported plant sale, good speakers at the monthly meetings, and enjoyable garden visits. Mike went on to thank everyone for their support and looked forward to a successful 2016.

The annual general meeting was followed by the cheese and wine party, which is always a very popular and successful event.

Donations for refreshments at the monthly meetings and at the shows in 2015 raised £269, which has been donated to the Petersfield branch of Open Sight.

The charity for 2016 will be LUPIN.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, February 2, at 7.30pm in the Triangle.

Ray Broughton will talk about gardening in containers, with some practical tips to make life easier for the more mature gardener.
