LISS Horticultural Society’s autumn show was held on a Sunday for the first time and was well supported.

Visitors enjoyed not only the show, but also tea and homemade cakes.

Despite many reservations about the impact of this year’s weather on the show, there were some very good quality exhibits across all classes.

According to a spokesman for the event, there was a vibrant show of autumn flowers and shrubs and some amazing dahlia blooms – the variety and quality of the dahlia displays were of special noteworthiness.

The other flowers, fruit and vegetables were also of a very high standard.

Exhibitors were congratulated by the judge, Mark Ward, and by Liss Horticultural Society’s president, Peter Catt.

There was keen competition with only one point separating the winner of the Marden Trophy presented for gaining the most points overall. Ann Haussauer won with 39 points, followed by Jenny Hall with 38 points.
