LISS Horticultural Society’s summer show was well supported with numbers only slightly down on last year, despite the torrential rain of a few days earlier.

All exhibits were of a very high standard and the children excelled themselves again with 119 exhibits.

The trophies were presented by the society’s president, Peter Catt.

Liss Horticultural Society (LHS)?secretary Sue Jordan said: “A very big thank-you to all who entered and to those who came along to support the show and also to those who helped to make it such a successful day. The profit of £100 made from the sale of tea and cakes will go to our charity of the year – The Rosemary Foundation.”

The winners of the parish council allotment competition were society members Mr and Mrs Tribe, who were presented with a trophy by Liss Parish Council chairman Roger Hargreaves.

The next event is the autumn show, with Gardeners’ Question Time, which will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at 7.15pm in the Triangle Centre.

Only LHS members can exhibit at the show, but visitors are welcome to attend.
