PLANS for a new pavilion in Liss have moved a step forward after a public consultation received positive feedback.
Liss Parish Council held the consultation in the village hall to show the public its latest plans for the pavilion.
The public were able to tell the parish council what they think of the proposed interior layout and how the floor plan might be arranged.
Liss Parish Council vice-chairman Keith Budden said: “We had a good number of people through the door, and the overwhelming feedback was one of support and now just a general desire to ‘get on with it’ – so we will use our best endeavours to make that happen, and get our planning application submitted as soon as we can.
“I think we are probably looking at late August or early September to submit the planning application.
“I hope we will get planning permission as the final building is a traditional style, the floor area is no larger than what we already have permission for, and the height of the building is less than what we already have permission for.
“I would be surprised if there are any major objections, and if we get planning permission we will then go out to tender.”
Cllr Budden was also pleased with the feedback the parish council received at the consultation.
He said: “It was good to show people what we are thinking and there were no real concerns.
“Overall I’m really pleased we got that feedback.”
The parish council was also supported in its plan to help fund the new pavilion with a loan from the public works loan board.
Cllr Budden added: “The feedback was supportive of the need for us to borrow from the public works loan board to fund the difference between available funds and the cost of the project.
“We are estimating that we will need a loan of circa £350,000 which will result in an increase in precept of £10 per year per household for the next 20 years.
“The £10 increase in the precept would start in the 2018-19 financial year.”
Anyone who was unable to attend the exhibition can view the slides on the Liss Parish Council website at: www.lissparishcouncil.gov.uk and make comments.
