Petersfield Society’s Clean Up for Remembrance had a record turnout of volunteer litter-pickers on Sunday morning for a ‘final polish’ of the town before the Remembrance service and parade.

On the day, 14 volunteers went into the town centre at 7.30am to ensure it was litter free for veterans and visitors to mark the two-minutes silence at 11am.

In the week before the event, 60 people comprehensively cleaned up the town – including one volunteer who swept the pavement the length of the High Street.

A total of 79 bags of litter were collected during the week-long clean up.
