DIG OUT the tweed breeches and stout shoes and stride out at the South Downs Vintage Walking Festival.

Relive the golden age of walking with a series of led walks in the national park at the event from Good Friday to April 9.

The festival, run by the South Downs National Park Authority, begins and ends with vintage themed walks with prizes for the best vintage walking attire.

Travel to the start points will be by vintage bus.

And in between these are a series of strolls hosted by local groups.

On March 25, at 10am, walk from Kingley Vale to Rowlands Castle; on March 26 the Rambler Association lead a walk to Bury Hill at 10am’ Sussex Pathfinders led the walk to Bignor Hill on March 26 at 10.30am; and on March 27 the Ramblers Association’s East Meon group take the walk around the downs to Amberley at 9.30am.

A walk around East Meon led by the Ramblers Association South East is on March 27 at 10am.

There are also walks at Hassocks, Firle, Slindon Estate and Petworth to Midhurst.
