A MAN who trespassed on railway lines near Petersfield railway station caused delays to trains before being arrested.

The incident last Thursday (March 17) began when a man was seen on the tracks at about 8pm, and Petersfield Police and British Transport Police (BTP)?were called.

A spokesman said: “Officers from BTP and Hampshire Police officers from Petersfield were able to remove a 36-year-old man from Portsmouth from the tracks shortly after 10pm.

“He was subsequently arrested for railway obstruction.

“The incident caused delays to a number of trains on lines across the area.”

Trains resumed running at about 10.30pm.
