THE 71-year-old man at the centre of a Hampshire Serious Crime Squad investigation into the unexplained death of a 69-year-old woman in Petersfield is no longer on police bail.
A police spokesman said: “Regarding the death in Petersfield, the arrested man has been released from bail but remains under investigation.
“The investigation continues.”
The woman was pronounced dead after medics were called to a house in the recently-built Farm Drive on the new estate off The Causeway, opposite Cranford Road.
Initially the Hampshire Air Ambulance was alerted and landed nearby, and police were called to the house at 6.35pm on Monday, August 5.
The male pensioner was then arrested.
On the following day, Tuesday, August 6, forensic officers spent all day examining the house, while uniformed officers were on duty outside it.
