Nearly one in every two people in South Harting appears to have signed a petition against plans for seven new homes on land allocated for new housing.

An East Hampshire family has applied to build terraced and semi-detached housing on land behind Loppers Ash earmarked for 6 to 8 houses in the South Downs Local Plan.

But there was big opposition at a recent Harting Parish Council meeting while more than 500 have signed an online petition calling on the SDNPA to refuse planning permission.

Several reasons are listed from the likely destruction of an ancient hedgebank and lack of ecological evidence to drainage design, overdevelopment and lack of visualisations.

More than 30 objections have also been made with the SDNPA calling in the application.
