THE TEAM behind the summer festival in Petersfield says almost £1,000 was raised for local charities at the August Bank Holiday weekend event.
Steve Jacob of Hometown Festivals said: “We are pleased to say the usual charity contribution was even more than normal.
“This was thanks to the Star Wars themed Force Festival which took place on the Bank Holiday Monday as part of the Petersfield Summer Festival.
“Members of the 501st Legion UK Garrison and Rebel Legion patrolled the centre of Petersfield along with Star Wars vehicles and helped to raise over £550 for Round Table’s Children’s Wish Charity.
“It was another another awesome event with around £1000 raised for good causes.”
This was is in addition to the usual fund raising at the popular annual event.
Winton House in the High Street collected close to £200 as well as raising awareness of their tea room.
Donations to Petersfield Lions fell just short of £100 in the slightly damp Sunday weather, and the Community Garden at Sheet collected more than £100.
