LISS Parish Council held a consultation event at Liss Village Hall on Saturday afternoon to get parishioners’ views on plans for the new West Liss pavilion.

Parish council chairman Keith Budden was pleased with the turnout and engagement from villagers.

Cllr Budden said: “It went very well and we had a reasonable attendance.

“We had a good wide range of people from right across the village, who left a substantial amount of comments. The comments were mainly positive, but there were some negative ones.

“It was important to get a whole village perspective as this doesn’t just affect West Liss and Station Road.

“We had a good range of age groups from young children to people in retirement.

“We tried to emphasise on Saturday that the designs were representative of the different styles.

“There was a clear preference for one style of design, as people wanted a traditional pavilion look and feel.”

Cllr Budden was pleased with how the consultation event went.

Cllr Budden said: “The consultation was certainly an exercise well worth doing, and we want to get this right.

“The overall mood was positive which is good as I was worried people might get jaded with the pavilion.

“The general consensus though was that we need to get on with it, and I feel much more confident that we have got the right solution and are on the path to delivering it.”

The parish council’s pavilion committee will now look to move forward with the plans for the pavilion, but the public will continue to be consulted along the way.

Cllr Budden said: “We will have a pavilion committee meeting on Thursday, and that will give us a way forward.

“I imagine we will then talk to producers of the preferred style, and then have another public event in the new year as we know we need to consult more often.

“We will also have a stall at the Liss Infant School Christmas fair on Saturday and at the Liss Christmas fair and late night shopping event to get more feedback.”
