PETERSFIELD care company Bluebird Care has invested in life saving equipment that can be used by residents in an emergency.
The care company in Charles Street now has an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) that is available for residents to use if someone has a cardiac arrest.
When someone calls 999 to report a heart attack, the emergency service control room operator will give Bluebird Care’s location so the defibrillator can be used.
It comes with easy to follow instructions inside its case, and no special training is needed to use one.
Bluebird Care’s national training manager Nick Griffiths said: “By investing in this life saving equipment we are supporting our local community and ambulance service by having a defibrillator readily available at the scene. As a franchise, Bluebird Care is a market leader in home care and are in a position to increase awareness of Automated External Defibrillators, not just in our community but across all of our offices in the UK.”
Statistics from the Resuscitation Council show that if an AED is used and effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is performed within three to five minutes of a heart attack the chances of survival increases from six per cent to 74 per cent.
Bluebird Care’s AED is available from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.
