THIS aerial picture of The Square in Petersfield was used in the newspaper in September 1987.
The Square, in the left centre of the picture, is looking quite quiet as are the car parks so it may have been taken on a Sunday.
The tower of St Peter’s Church is clearly visible among the trees of the churchyard.
Waitrose and the shops of Rams Walk, which were opened in 1993, had yet to be constructed.
The trees on the corners of The Square adjoining High Street are notable for their absence while another area which has changed is off College Street at the start of the one-way system, where the former White Hart pub has been replaced by houses.
