THIS humorous postcard is one of the illustrations in a book on Chichester which presents its places, people and history in a new way.

A-Z of Chichester is by popular local historian Philip Macdougall who explores the lesser-known nooks and crannies of the city founded by the Romans. Along the way, he relates tales of people and incidents connected to the buildings.

More than 100 photographs illustrate the text with images from the past and present, giving an insight for both residents and visitors wanting a snapshot of the West Sussex city’s rich and colourful heritage.

A-Z of Chichester is the latest in a series produced by Amberley Publishing. Another of the company’s new books is Secret Romsey, by Ian Dickerson.
