LOCAL “Open Britain” campaigners were out in force in Petersfield town centre on Saturday morning (November 12).

The group, formerly Remain campaigners during the run up to the Brexit referendum, were promoting their view that a vote should be taken to approve conditions for a negotiated European Union (EU) exit.

Organiser Graham Davenport said: “Despite the gloomy weather a surprising number of people spent time discussing the issues and their personal concerns with the Brexit process.

“The vast majority thought it was right that they should have a say as the leave campaign did not have a clear perspective on the conditions that they planned to negotiate.

“Most agreed that to maintain our current standard of living we should be closely engaged with Europe in the future and a member of the single market”
