NEW Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) being drawn up for Petersfield are to be explained by council officers behind them.

Emma Pond, East Hampshire District Council Parking and Traffic Manager, will explain the work at the Community Forum for Petersfield and surrounding villages on Wednesday, November 2.

She said: “We are focusing on safety and we are prioritising our resources to address the cause of accidents to reduce the number of people killed and injured."

The team is also putting together a five year parking strategy. The strategy seeks to balance the needs of residents, businesses and visitors and covers all aspects of parking including on and off-street parking, parking charges, permits, enforcement and management.

Cllr Ben Bentley, Chairman of the Community Forum for Petersfield and surrounding villages, said: “Parking is always a hot topic in Petersfield so I am delighted that Emma will be able to tell us what the latest situation is and what EHDC can and cannot do in terms of regulating parking in the district.”

The forum meeting will be in the Council Offices, Penns Place, Petersfield, GU31 4EX on Wednesday, November 2, at 6.30pm.
